Delete your Fugaz account
Last updated: 2026-08-27
This page explains how to delete your Fugaz account and what happens to your data when you do. You do not need to sign in to read it.
Who develops the app
Fugaz (fugaz.app) is developed and operated by Diego Herrero, who is also the data controller. You can write to [email protected].
How to delete your account
There are three ways, and all three delete exactly the same thing.
- From the app. Open the Cuenta (Account) menu — the ⋯ button in the top right corner — and choose Eliminar mi cuenta (Delete my account). The next screen tells you what gets deleted and asks you to confirm.
- From the web, while signed in. Go to your profile and use Borrar mi perfil (Delete my profile).
- By writing to the bot. Send it the message delete my profile in the same chat you use Fugaz from. borrar mi perfil, eliminar mi perfil, profil löschen, supprimer mon profil and cancella il mio profilo work too.
⚠️ Careful: “deactivate” deletes nothing. The words deactivate, desactivar, baja, salir del mapa, stop, leave and off only take you off the map: your profile stays stored and you show up again as soon as you share your location. Deleting has to be asked for with the words above.
If none of the three works for you, write to [email protected] and we will do it for you. Note that we do not store your phone number, so we cannot find your account from it: to identify you we will ask you to send the bot a message from the same phone you use Fugaz on.
What is deleted
Immediately, with no waiting period:
- Your profile: name, photo, age, languages, nationality, social handles and anything you wrote about yourself. The photo is deleted from storage as well.
- Your location, and with it your presence on the map.
- The shared views you created, which stop opening even for somebody who still has the link.
- From the app, additionally: every session you have —on other phones too—, the registered devices with their notification tokens, and the conversation with the bot stored on our servers.
What is not deleted
- What other people already saw or received. A message already on somebody's phone is theirs, and we cannot take it back.
- Moderation decisions. If there was a report, the decision we made is kept for 2 years, and a ban from the app for 3. They are not deleted at the request of the reported person while they are still needed to defend against a claim (GDPR art. 17.3(e)).
- Which door you came in through. We keep one row per person with the channel they arrived by and who was on the other side, without your name or your phone number. It is what the buddy programme rests on, and deleting it would leave other people with no account of why they got in.
- Your internal identity. An irreversible code derived from your phone number; the number itself is never stored and the code cannot be turned back into it.
- Your buddy role, if you have one. Deleting your profile does not remove you from the programme: they are two different things, and getting it back takes a phone call. To resign, use the buddy badge in the app's header.
